Dr. Jason R. Hess specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery in San Diego. He is Board Certified by the American Board of PlasticSurgery, the only board for certifying plastic surgeons.
He is highly regarded by his gentle bedside manner. Dr. Hess is knownfor his meticulous attention to detail and provides uncompromisingquality care to patients. Dr. Hess was born in the Midwest, where he gained the core values he maintains today. From early childhood Dr. Hess wanted to study medicine. He went to The Ohio State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Molecular Genetics.
When Dr. Hess went to medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, which is an award reserved for the top 10% of physicians. Dr. Hess began general surgery training at theUniversity of Texas in Houston. This is one of the busiest trauma centers in the country.
Then, Dr. Hess dedicated a year to basic science research in the studyof peripheral nerve regeneration at Washington University. He studied with one of the nation's leading experts in peripheral nerve surgery.

At Wright State University Booneshoft School of Medicine, Dr. Hess graduated in the top 10% of his class. Dr. Hess decided to study hand and microsurgery at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital.
His plastic surgical training wascompleted at Wayne State University under Dr. Ian Jackson, one of the founding fathers of plastic surgery. He began his surgical career at a group practice in Beverly Hills, and has continued his solo practice in San Diego.
